I use digital storytelling techniques in my middle school science classes to engage kids in science, ramp up their buy-in to literacy and technology, and see what they can create.  We write scripts, make storyboards, find or shoot images, then put them together using Windows Movie Maker, Photostory 3 and/or iMovie.  I'm constantly amazed by how energetic and committed they are to learning this way!  Even the struggling kids.  If you're attending SITE in San Diego, check out my Roundtable presentation, and I can show you some of what we are doing.  I'd love to hear from some fellow digital storytellers!

Roger this sounds very interesting. Engagement is a key to learning in my book (or should that be Kindle now;-) Creating and retelling with added understanding motivates learners. Hope to meet up with you at SITE in San Diego.
Lawrence,
I'd love to meet up and swap stories and challenges. I'll be there for the week and my presentation slot is 2:45-3:45 Friday 4/2. Most other time could be set up and/or maybe I'll see you in some of the sessions. Keep in touch and thanks for the reply!
